The Humane AI Pin is set to start shipping in March, and the company announced on Twitter that those who placed priority orders will be the first to receive their Ai Pins when the shipments begin. The company had initially provided an estimate of “early 2024” for the release of this screen-less wearable designed to function as a smartphone replacement.
Founded by former Apple employees Bethany Bongiorno and Imran Chaudhri, Humane holds the perspective that the smartphone, which has been a significant part of their former employer’s success, is in decline. Chaudhri mentioned in a November press briefing that the last era of smartphones has plateaued, and the AI-powered wearable from Humane represents a new way of thinking and a fresh opportunity in the world of technology.

The $699 Humane AI Pin distinguishes itself by not having a traditional screen. Instead, it relies on voice cues and a built-in projector that beams relevant information onto the user’s hand. The device emphasizes privacy along with contextual intelligence, claiming to quickly understand user needs and connect them to the right AI experience or service instantly. Humane has established partnerships with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Tidal, providing users with access to some of the world’s most powerful AI models and platforms.
Under the hood, the AI Pin runs on a quad-core Snapdragon processor with a dedicated Qualcomm AI Engine powering its Cosmos OS software. It is available in three color options, with two of them adding an additional $100 to the base price. To access cellular data, buyers are required to pay $24 per month, as the pin operates as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on top of T-Mobile’s network.
Humane has shared that the remaining orders for the AI Pin will be fulfilled in the sequence they were received, following the initial shipping in March. Engadget reached out to the company via email to inquire about the expected timeline for the dispatch of current orders, and updates will be incorporated into this article if a response is received.
For those interested in pre-ordering, the Humane AI Pin is currently available on Humane’s website. The Eclipse variant (matte black on black) is priced at $699, while the Lunar (polished chrome on white) and Equinox (polished chrome on black) colorways are priced at $799.
