Apple AirPods Pro: USB-C charging case is the biggest change

Apple has announced that the AirPods Pro will now come with a USB-C charging case, making them more compatible with other devices and chargers. The company also said that the AirPods Pro and the case are now IP54 dust-resistant, which means they can withstand dust and dirt better than before.

In addition to the hardware changes, Apple is also adding three new software features to the AirPods Pro with iOS 17:

  • Adaptive Audio: This feature will automatically adjust the active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode settings based on the surrounding environment. For example, if you’re in a noisy place, the ANC will be turned up to block out the noise. If you’re in a quiet place, the transparency mode will be turned up so you can hear what’s going on around you.
  • Personalized Volume: This feature will use machine learning to predict your desired listening level based on your activity over time. For example, if you usually listen to music at a low volume, the AirPods Pro will automatically adjust the volume to that level.
  • Conversation Awareness: This feature will automatically lower the volume of the audio you’re listening to and focus on the voices of people talking to you. This is useful for having conversations while wearing the AirPods Pro, without having to manually pause your music or podcast.

These new software features should make the AirPods Pro even more convenient and user-friendly.

In addition to the AirPods Pro, Apple has also updated its wired EarPods with a USB-C connector. This means that all of Apple’s current audio products now use the USB-C standard, which is a good thing for both users and the environment.

Overall, the new AirPods Pro are a welcome upgrade, with a USB-C charging case, dust resistance, and new software features. They are sure to be popular with consumers who are looking for a high-quality pair of wireless earbuds.
