Google Pixel 8: A more compact flagship with a long-lasting battery

Google

The Google Pixel 8 is a more compact and powerful Pixel with a bigger battery and a few other upgrades, including new AI features. It has a 6.2-inch display, which is smaller than the display on last year’s Pixel 7. However, the Pixel 8 has a dynamic display with 60 to 120Hz refresh rates, which should help to improve battery life.

The Pixel 8 also has a larger battery than the Pixel 7, with a minimum capacity of 4,485mAh. This should lead to improved battery life, especially when combined with the smaller display and more efficient Tensor G3 chip.

The Pixel 8 has the same primary sensor as the Pixel 8 Pro, with an upgraded 50-megapixel octa PD camera and f/1.68 aperture. It’ll be capable of 2x optical zoom, as well as up to 8x of digital zoom (what Google calls Super Res Zoom). The Pixel 8’s ultrawide camera will have built-in lens correction, as ultrawide cameras can often distort and stretch images at the edges.

Google’s new Tensor G3 chip is also a big upgrade for the Pixel 8. Google claims that the machine learning model on Pixel 8 is 10 times more complex than Pixel 6’s Tensor chip. The new silicon will also help to power features like Call Screen and Audio Magic Eraser, which can be used to erase distracting sounds from your videos.

In addition to the hardware upgrades, the Pixel 8 also has a few new AI features. One of the most notable features is the new Google Assistant voice typing, which promises to be more accurate and faster than ever before. This is a feature that I use all the time, so I’m eager to see how much of a difference it makes in my daily life.

Another interesting AI feature is the new Google Translate integration with the camera app. This will allow users to translate text in real time simply by pointing their camera at it. This could be a huge help for travelers or anyone who needs to communicate with someone who speaks a different language.

Overall, the Google Pixel 8 is a solid upgrade over the Pixel 7. It has a smaller, more efficient display, a bigger battery, a more powerful chip, and new AI features. It’s also available at a starting price of $699, which is more affordable than the Pixel 7.

If you’re looking for a new Android phone, the Google Pixel 8 is a great option to consider. It’s a well-rounded phone with a lot to offer, including a great camera, long battery life, and powerful performance.
