Upgrade Your Home Entertainment with Samsung’s Smart Monitor M80C for Just $400

Samsung

The Samsung Smart Monitor M80C stands out in the monitor market due to its unique combination of a 4K computer display and the features of a compact smart TV and smart home hub. Although this latest addition to the Smart Monitor series has seen occasional sales since its June release, the 32-inch M80C is currently available on Amazon for $400 with an on-page coupon. While a potentially better deal may arise on Black Friday, this is presently the lowest price we’ve observed, which is roughly $200 less than the monitor’s typical street price in recent months. Other retailers like Best Buy, B&H, and Samsung.com offer the monitor for $100 more, with an exception for Best Buy subscribers to the My Best Buy Plus service, where it can also be acquired for $400. Please note that this deal applies to the white color option.

The Samsung Smart Monitor’s primary allure lies in its versatility. It includes a remote and runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS, the same operating system found in the company’s smart TVs. This allows you to access streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and more without needing to power up your computer. Additionally, you can stream cloud games via the Xbox app and Nvidia GeForce Now, or project content directly from an iPhone using AirPlay. With built-in Bixby and Alexa voice assistants, and serving as a SmartThings hub, you can control compatible smart home devices using the monitor. The device comes with a detachable webcam and two built-in speakers, which, while not exceptional, can serve as a suitable backup. In comparison to last year’s M80B monitor, the M80C offers minor improvements, such as a full-size HDMI port instead of a micro-HDMI, along with two USB-A ports and a 65W USB-C port.

Nevertheless, the M80C still falls into the category of a “jack of all trades, master of none.” The 4K resolution ensures sharp visuals, but the monitor is limited to a basic 60Hz refresh rate and lacks local dimming. It uses a VA panel, which provides decent contrast but results in the image fading when viewed from an angle. According to other reviews, the M80C can achieve decent brightness but don’t expect highly vibrant HDR content. While the monitor itself boasts a clean design and supports basic adjustments, this discounted model lacks VESA mount compatibility.

In summary, the M80C serves a specific niche. If you don’t require its additional features, you can find better values in our guides on the best monitors and gaming monitors, particularly if you can replicate many of the extra perks directly from your PC. However, if you seek a monitor that can double as a small TV for your home office, it represents a reasonable value at its current price.
