Honda is intensifying its foray into the electric vehicle (EV) market as part of its ambitious plan to introduce 30 electric models by 2030. The automaker is set to unveil its new EV series for the first time at CES 2024, providing a sneak peek at the lineup during a press conference on January 9 at 1:30 PM ET. The event will be accessible for viewing.
While specific details about the upcoming EV series remain undisclosed, Honda has hinted at revealing “several key technologies that illustrate the significant transformation Honda is currently undergoing.” The company is committed to achieving a goal of exclusively selling zero-emission vehicles in North America by 2040, encompassing both battery electric and fuel cell electric-powered models.
At present, Honda faces a considerable challenge in reaching this objective and keeping pace with more EV-focused competitors. The company currently offers the all-electric Prologue SUV (not yet available to the public) and two hybrid models in its electrified lineup. It’s worth noting that Honda has phased out several hybrid models in recent years.
