Nissan’s Nismo EV Redefines Electric Power & Handling

Nissan

Nissan has introduced its latest electric vehicle under the Nismo performance division, the Nissan’s Nismo EV, which is based on the Ariya e-4orce model. The Ariya Nismo will be available in two trims: the B6 with a 66kWh battery and the B9 with a larger 91kWh version. As expected from Nismo, Nissan’s performance division, the Ariya Nismo promises a boost in power compared to other Ariya models. The B6 model is anticipated to have 362 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, while the B9 is set to offer 429 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. It’s worth noting that these figures might be subject to change before the electric SUV becomes available.

The Nismo team has reportedly fine-tuned the acceleration and introduced an exclusive driving mode to optimize response. Nissan claims that this tuning, combined with the e-4orce four-wheel-control technology and tires on rigid 20-inch aluminum wheels, will result in superior stability, improved turn-in ability, better line-tracing, and enhanced cornering capabilities at high speeds. The Ariya Nismo aims to deliver a performance-oriented driving experience in the electric SUV segment.

In addition to performance upgrades, the Ariya Nismo offers an optional Formula E-style sound for an added sense of excitement, according to Nissan. The cabin is designed to provide a premium feel, featuring specially designed Nismo seats and trim. This marks another step by automakers to enhance the electric vehicle experience by incorporating unique and customizable elements, including artificial sounds to enrich the driving experience.

While the Ariya Nismo isn’t the first electric vehicle that the Nismo team has worked on, it represents Nissan’s ongoing commitment to integrating performance and electric technology. The Nismo team previously introduced the Leaf Nismo RC concept at the 2011 New York Auto Show, followed by a second-generation model entering production in Japan in 2018. As of now, Nissan has not disclosed the pricing or release timeframe for the Ariya Nismo, but it stands as a flagship offering within the Nismo lineup of electric vehicles.
